The Paralympic School Days (PSD) are a unique educational program aimed at creating and promoting activities to help children, pupils and students understand the common life of handicapped children, adults and athletes.

“We are trying to focus on strengthening human solidarity, tolerance and mutual respect. We also want children and young people to show that they can achieve their goals, even if it seems very difficult. Sport is an ideal means of education in this respect, “said Jiří Šindler, chairman of the Ostrava 2019 World Hockey Championship organisation team.

Within the program, 40 selected schools of the Moravian-Silesian Region will actively participate in the championship itself. In the competition for the best fan program, the teams of individual schools will be assigned to a specific representative team and will create a fan base. Each hockey team (Czech Republic, Japan, USA, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Korea, Italy) will be cheered on by 5 schools. The competition criterion is a fan base, backed by customized fan tools such as drums, bam bam poles, trumpets or flags. At the end of the WCH, 3 schools with the best fan program will be selected and they will receive a motivation reward.

The paralympic school days will take place under the auspices of Palacky University in Olomouc, Department of Applied Physical Activity and the University of Ostrava, Department of Human Movement Studies.
