The ambassador of the Ostrava 2019 World Para Ice Hockey Championships is the legendary hockey goalie Dominik Hašek

Dominik Hašek, also known as Dominátor, is a former Czech hockey goalie. He was declared to be the best European hockey player in the history of the NHL by The Hockey News magazine in 2012. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the NHL he was selected as one of the 100 best players in the history of the league in January 2017.

Hasek is a six-time winner of the Vezina Trophy, a double winner (1996-1997, 1997-1998) of the prize for the most prominent NHL player – Hart Memorial Trophy, he won the Lester B. Pearson Award twice (1997, 1998) then he also won the William M. Jennings Trophy three times (1994, 2001, 2008). In the Czech Republic, he was a five-time winner of the Golden Hockey (1987, 1989, 1990, 1997, 1998), in 1998 the winner of the Hockey Player of the century, and in 1994 and 1998 the winner of the Sporting of the Year survey. In 2008 he was introduced to the Czech Hockey Hall of Fame.

On December 1, 2013, the number 9 Hašek jersey was displayed in the Pardubice ČEZ Arena.
In 2014, he was put into Toronto’s Hockey Hall of Fame. On January 13, 2015, Buffalo Sabers solemnly retired his number 39 and from that day his banner hangs from the ceiling at KeyBank Center in Buffalo. That same year he was introduced to the IIHF Hall of Fame.
