Canada

Tym Kanady

From its start in the early 1990s (it officially became part of the Hockey Canada program in 2004), Canada’s National Para Hockey Team has been a major player on the international stage, consistently appearing on the podium at Paralympics and world championships. The bronze medallist at the first Paralympic Winter Games to include para hockey in 1994, Canada earned silver in 1998 before completing its medal collection with a gold medal at the 2006 Games in Torino, Italy. It added bronze in 2014 and silver in 2018, leaving Canada tied for the most Paralympic para hockey medals – five. It has also earned four gold medals at the IPC World Para Hockey Championship (2000, 2008, 2013, 2017), more than any other nation, and will look to defend its world title in Ostrava with a roster that includes a balanced mix of experienced veterans and eager, talented rookies.
