Even a handicap is not an obstacle in active sport. That was the main message of the visit to the Hrabyně Rehabilitation Institute. The organizers of the Ostrava 2019 World Para Hockey Championships set out to visit the institute, together with the recruiting coordinator of Czech para hockey, Jiří Krupička.

“It is raising of public awareness in rehabilitation facilities. I try to introduce clients to para hockey. To show that it is an attractive, interesting sport. In order for them to realize that people with health problems, handicaps can live, play sports and even represent the Czech Republic on an international level, ”said the Czech para hockey coordinator Jiří Krupička. He responded to a wide range of client inquiries during his talk. They were mainly interested in the difficulty of this sport, the necessary equipment for para hockey and domestic para hockey league. “The interest and enthusiasm of my clients surprised me. They immediately tried the sledges, they even made a couple passes, ” Jiří Krupička added. “Clients have registered that the World Para Hockey Championships start this week in Ostrava. Of course, we are also ready to visit handicapped fans. For those, we have plenty of places with a comfortable view of the playing area, ”said Zuzana Glacová, WCH spokeswoman for the organizational team.

The organizers of the World Para Hockey Championships also gave the opportunity for the Hrabyně Rehabilitation Institute to visit the championships and to support one of the world’s elite teams.

The entire area of the Ostravar Arena is ready to be visited by handicapped fans, it offers special barrier-free stands. The Ostrava 2019 World Para Hockey Championships begin on April 27th, 2019.
