The Czech Para Hockey Team Worked Out A Sweat In Ostrava

Crossfit and an intense training on ice. The Czech para hockey team trained for two days in Ostrava in preparation for the upcoming World Championships. The guys were supported once again by former representative hockey players – David Moravec, Martin Prusek and Rostislav Klesla. Even they, nonetheless, broke a sweat on the ice.

The Czech para hockey team attended a special training in Colliery CrossFit Ostrava. “We did not include CrossFit as such, because ice preparation is the most valuable thing for us at the moment. But this is a great introduction, for the guys, to another form of strengthening, support for physical condition and we will want to include it especially during the summer preparation in the future, ”said Jiří Bříza, coach of the Czech para hockey team. “We created a special training that was suitable for both sitting and standing players. We used skipping ropes and rowing machines and I have to say that you can see that the guys are unforgiving with their training. They went full in. You can see the longer-term preparation on them. They are doing very well on the physical side. ”Johan Pavlík, coach of Colliery CrossFit Ostrava added.

The Czech para hockey team didn’t even experience such a normal training on the ice. David Moravec or Rostislav Klesla and former goalkeeper Martin Prusek, for example, put on their skates as well. None of the players then gave anything for free. The brisk training pace was visible after a few minutes on both the former hockey players and also on the para hockey team. “These guys have incredible speed. That’s really crazy what they can do with their hands. I have to say that this is the first time I encountered para hockey and I was surprised how dynamically the guys played, ” said Rostislav Klesla who didn’t hide his surprise. “The goalkeeper of the representation and I told each other that the way they do it, basically their interventions are not so different from ours, it was very interesting,” added the current coach of the hockey goalies Martin Prusek.

During preparation in Slovakia, the Czech para hockey team will meet in a friendly match with the teams of Germany and Slovakia.
