Paralympic School Days In Full Swing

major universities. These are the Paralympic School Days (PSD). The project, which takes place in the framework of the upcoming Ostrava 2019 World Para Ice Hockey Championships, has just begun.

The PSD educational program comes from the Vice-Rector of the Palacký University in Olomouc (UP), Martin Kudláček and Ondřej Ješina, who is the Chairman of the Czech Association of Applied Physical Activities.The University of Palacký in Olomouc handed the educational and popularization concept of PSD over to the University of Ostrava (OSU) within the framework of the Ostrava 2019 World Para Ice Hockey Championships 

The entire program is supervised by students and guarantors of the Department of Applied Movement Activities of UP and the Department of Human Movement Studies at OSU.

Today, pupils and students of the 1st International School of Ostrava and The Ostrava International School tried the PSD activities. Children could play basketball in wheelchairs or para hockey on special indoor sleighs in a fun and educational way. The sleighs were modified by Tomas Bata University in Zlín for the needs of PSD. With that, the first indoor sledge in the Czech Republic was created. PSD are also about a close encounter of children and professional handicapped athletes. This time Tomáš Kvoch was put up t the task. One of the regulars of the Czech para ice hockey representation.

Under the PSD program, schools are also actively involved in the course of the Ostrava 2019 para ice hockey WCH itself. In the competition for the best fan club program, the individual schools will be assigned to a specific team and will form a fan base. Every country’s para hockey team (Czech Republic, Japan, USA, Canada, Sweden, Norway, Korea, Italy) will hold several schools.

The PSD project is funded by the statutory city of Ostrava and the Moravian-Silesian Region.
